This is, alongwith Bleeder, my most rejected piece - six times in total, i think. It was written late one night while i was reading Marilyn Manson's autobiography so there's some pre-Mechanical Animal Manson imagery in there. Rejection comments included "too overtly fantastical", " a curious piece" and "a little underdeveloped". On the other hand, Trevor Denyer's acceptance described it as one of the best stories he has read in a long time. Which is exactly why I've only once changed a piece because of what an editor said.
